December Kindergarten Kapers

Dear parents,

This week we are learning the letter s. I will be reading the wonderful story of Stone soup to the children. If you are not familiar with this story, please have your child tell you about it at the end of our week and maybe you’ll be brewing stone soup for your family over the holidays. As tradition goes, you must always serve stone soup after hearing the story so that good health will come to the one who discovers a real stone in their broth!

We will be eating stone soup in the classroom on Friday, December 4. we will not be going to the cafeteria for lunch. Along with the soup, the children will be eating saltine crackers.

If you feel that your child may need something else to eat with our soup and crackers please send it with your child that day.

This is such a fun day for the children and we always look forward to telling the story, serving the soup, and the excitement of one child finding the stone in their soup!!!

Your child is to please bring the following ingredient to add to our soup by Thursday, December 3rd in a sealed baggie:

Saltine crackers

Ham (diced)

2 potatoes (peeled and chopped)

2 carrots (peeled and chopped)

2 onions (chopped)

2 stalks celery (chopped)

2 cans of chicken broth

Boxed juices (12)
